A Bench Designed By Harry Bertoia For Knoll International
A bench designed by Harry Bertoia for Knoll International.
The original creation was first developed in 1952, with the structure made from formed metal rods, and wood slats spanning the frame. This simple design was the first piece of furniture created by Harry Bertoia for Knoll. Although the bench does not have the signature wire grid of his seating collection, the welded wire base shows an early exploration of the material and foreshadows of what was to follow. The bench also makes a great coffee table.
It is estimated that this bench was made in the late 1960's, early 1970's.
